Branding Prediction Markets: Trust Comes First
Prediction markets sit between finance and sports. Their brands have to earn credibility from both sides.

Prediction markets ask people to put money behind what they believe will happen. That makes them feel part trading desk, part sports app. Brands that lean too far either way lose half their audience.
The category is no longer a niche experiment. Trading volume surged through 2025, and by the final week of the year, combined notional volume across the major platforms passed $5.3 billion in a single week, with Kalshi and Polymarket both posting all-time highs. Growth that fast brings a flood of first-time users who have never traded a contract in their lives.
Confusion is the real competitor
Rapid growth has outpaced understanding. In research released alongside its Super Bowl LX estimate, the American Gaming Association found that many sports event contract users misunderstand how the products are regulated, with 78% believing state regulators could help resolve disputes on their platform, even though these markets operate outside state gaming oversight.
Whatever your view of the regulatory debate, the branding lesson is clear. If users do not understand what they are buying, who oversees it or how a contract settles, trust is fragile. One confusing experience can undo months of acquisition spend.
Look serious enough to trust
New users need to believe their money is safe and the market is fair. Clear typography, calm layouts and plain language about how contracts work do more for conversion than any splashy campaign. Borrow from the best of fintech, not from the casino floor:
- Show prices as probabilities people can read at a glance, such as 62 cents meaning a 62% chance.
- Explain settlement, fees and who regulates the platform in plain words, close to the action, not buried in a help center.
- Keep the palette and motion restrained on money screens; save the energy for content and campaigns.
Feel exciting enough to return
At the same time, the product lives on live events. Motion, energy and timely creative give people a reason to come back when something is happening. The trick is adding that energy without making the platform feel like a casino. Live odds movement, smart notifications and fast reactive social creative can do that job without leaning on bonus language.
Explain the mechanic, then celebrate it
Many people still do not understand how an exchange or event contract works. The brands that grow fastest make the mechanic simple to grasp in one look, then build their personality around it. Taking a position, seeing the market move, and cashing out early are all distinctive moments a traditional sportsbook cannot offer. Make them the hero. Clarity is the foundation; style is what makes it memorable.
